The MACK FM originally began as an idea of Dennel Clayton back in 2015 in Los Angeles, California. It was a time where most if not all classic soul / r&b radio stations in the Los Angeles area had either left the airwaves for good, or converted over to a urban / rap format. With the exception of 102.3 KJLH (owned by Stevie Wonder) whose format had also changed considerably, there weren't any more classic soul stations left. This really bothered Dennel who grew up in the heyday of great soul and r&b music in Los Angeles. Such powerhouse black radio stations that dominated the airwaves back in the day were, the original AM 1580 KDAY and KGFJ AM 1230. The only other black fm music station besides Stevie Wonder's KJLH 102.3 was KACE 103.9 FM.
After the heartbreaking loss of all these great r&b radio stations it became Dennel's mission to create a online classic soul / r&b station to pay homage to all the great LA stations that he loved and inspired him growing up. In 2019 his dream came to fruition with the creation of Soul Music Radio Jamz, which eventually evolved into what is now known as The MACK FM. Mr Clayton gratefully acknowledges and thanks those individuals who've contribute to the making of The MACK FM. Art Miller, Sal Rodriguez and various family members, without your support and contributions The MACK FM would not be.
